Pengembangan dan Uji Efektivitas E-Booklet Berbasis Augmented Reality untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Biologi Siswa Teman Tuli Kelas VII SLB-B YPTB Malang

Abstract

The implementation of biology learning for deaf students often faces challenges due to the abstract nature of biological concepts and the limited availability of interactive learning media. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an Augmented Reality-based E-Booklet as a biology learning medium for seventh-grade deaf students at SLB-B YPTB Malang. The study employed a mixed-method approach consisting of a needs analysis through observation and teacher interviews, followed by a pre-experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design to assess learning effectiveness. The research sample consisted of five deaf students who participated in all stages of the study. Learning outcomes were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the average pre-test score increased from 68.00 to 89.33. Normality and homogeneity tests confirmed that the data met the required assumptions, while the paired t-test revealed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (t = 4.3546). Furthermore, the average N-Gain score was 0.654, indicating a moderate improvement. These findings demonstrate that the Augmented Reality-based E-Booklet effectively enhances students' understanding of biology concepts through visual, interactive, and contextual learning experiences. Therefore, the developed E-Booklet has the potential to serve as an inclusive and adaptive biology learning medium for deaf students.
